Additionally, some firearms are not designed to use steel cased ammo, so research this ahead of time. Steel cased ammo usually corrosive and non-reloadable, which is why it’s cheaper. Steel cased ammunition is almost always cheaper than brass cased. Look for bulk packs of 500 to 1,000 rounds, and you should notice that the CPR is lower. This makes buying in bulk a more efficient way to buy ammunition than in individual boxes, as well as a good strategy to save money overtime. Yes, you’re spending more overall, but you’re also paying less by the round. Buy BulkĪs a golden rule, the CPR is always less when you purchase ammunition in bulk rather than by individual boxes. Simply take the overall price of the box (or pack) of ammunition, and then divide by the number of round sin the box. This will truly tell you how much you are spending on the ammunition. When ammo shopping online, one of the most important tips is to… Look For CPR (Cost-Per-Round)Īlways look for the CPR, or cost-per-round, rather than the overall price. More discussion on this later.308 Winchester One reason why 7.62x39mm has remained fairly affordable is because of the fact that it’s usually available in the form of steel cased cartridges, which are usually cheaper than brass cased ammo. 7.62x39mmĪnother centerfire rifle round that has remained fairly economical is the round used for most AK and SKS type rifles, the 7.62x39mm. It’s also the standard caliber used in countless other semi-automatic rifles and carbines as well. One reason why 5.56 has remained so popular and affordable is because it’s the most common round choice for the most popular rifle in America, the AR-15. 223 Remington counterpart remain among the most affordable centerfire rifle cartridges even post-pandemic. As an AI language model, I dont have personal experiences or emotions, but I can provide you with the information. So, Simon Konecki was married to Adele for approximately three years. Their marriage lasted for around three years, as they announced their divorce in 2019. We went out for dinner, which he says was a business meeting and I’m like, ‘A business meeting about what?’ And then it was the first time we hung out on our own, without friends, and I think that was a natural way that people would meet each other in real life. Adele and Simon Konecki started dating in 2011 and got married in 2018. “I met him at a birthday party, we were on the dance floor,” she said. I’m a homemaker and I’m a matriarch, and a stable life helps me with my music.”Īdele first revealed she was in a relationship with Paul in an interview with Oprah Winfrey in December 2021. I might as well be married,” she told ELLE at the time, adding that she’d love to have more children. In August she finally set the record straight, saying she’s not married (note the avoidance of answering whether she was engaged), but “in loooove! I’m happy as I’ll ever be. In February last year, Adele walked the Brit Awards red carpet sporting a diamond ring on her wedding finger, resulting in the first round of engagement rumors. To top it all off, apparently, Adele wore a diamond ring on that finger Las Vegas residency show over the weekend - t hough it pays to note, this wouldn’t be the first time she’s sported a huge rock there, prompting the internet to go wild. The Center for Research and Reform in Education at Johns Hopkins University examined two elementary schools using the program and found that students reported their teachers were nicer, while staff reported improved student behaviour. Sean Covey, executive vice president at FranklinCovey and one of Covey's sons, said the company's goal is to have the Leader in Me program used in 10 per cent of US schools. And we started to love them through their challenges.''Ĭovey documented the experience at Summers' school and others in a 2008 book, and the program expanded. "We saw children really being recognised for what they do well, not what they didn't do well. "We started to see amazing results,'' Summers said. FranklinCovey provided free training for her staff. Combs Elementary in Lexington, asked Covey whether he thought the habits could be taught to children. The program got its start in 1999 when Muriel Summers, principal of A.B. "It's kind of a first language for them.'' "It is easier for kids at 5, 6, 7 to learn the habits than it is for us adults,'' said Joel Katte, principal of Meadowthorpe Elementary in Lexington, Kentucky, where student leadership assemblies feature students singing about and performing skits about the habits. "Kids should be able to be creative and think for themselves and not be automatons and repeat the seven habits.''Īsked how many schools had dropped out, FranklinCovey said that would be hard to calculate.īefore his death in July 2012, Covey disputed criticism that he simply repackaged his Mormon faith in the Seven Habits.'īackers say the program exceeded expectations. "It's our responsibility as parents to teach values to our kids, not for kids to come home and teach FranklinCovey's values to us,'' said Devries, 53, a fishery scientist and water resource engineer. Lake Elementary parent Paul Devries said he found the program "cult-like'' and "objected to the group mentality.'' Some schools offer training sessions for parents. Lakeview Elementary in Kirkland, Washington, a Seattle suburb, dropped the program this year after parents complained. The Leader in Me, which has started branching out into preschools and middle schools, is one of "literally dozens'' of programs seeking to improve the school climate, said Paul Baumann, director of the National Centre for Learning and Civic Engagement, a group that researches education policy. "He's very confident now, and he wasn't last year.'' "He sees that when I'm in class putting first things first, my dot on my graph is going up, and he's proud,'' Ms Cross said. Ms Cross said the tracking is a big motivator for Johnathan. The notebooks also track a personal goal, such as the time spent learning to tie their shoes. They also keep a leadership notebook in which they chart growth in an academic area. Students typically are assigned leadership roles that range from class greeter to fish-tank cleaner. When Johnathan's principal asked the boy what habit led to his turnaround, he quickly responded, "Do first things first.'' He said he didn't finish his work last year. Teachers, for example, might ask students how historical figures like US president George Washington might have used them.Īnd if a student gets into trouble, teachers and principals ask what habit could have helped him or her avoid the scrape.īesides the US, the program is also being used in more than 35 counties, including Australia, Japan and China. The nearly 1500 mostly primary schools in the United States using the program - called "The Leader in Me" - teach principles from the book, including "think win-win,'' "seek first to understand, then to be understood'' and "synergise." A 25th anniversary edition of the 1989 book will be released in November. The third-grader's explanation for the turnaround: "I'm not doing what I did last year.''īut Emily Cross, the principal of his school on the outskirts of Kansas City, Missouri, is giving some credit to a program the school began using last year that is built around the late self-help guru Stephen Covey's best-selling The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. ONE year after Johnathan Kent kicked his principal and school "went all bad,'' the 8-year-old was recognised at a recent assembly as the "Star of the Month'' for being polite and helping out his teachers. It’s a small island and you can see most of the sights in a day, so many visitors to Paros choose to visit it as a day trip. For me, Antiparos has a very relaxed, informal atmosphere and a great place to stay if you want to unwind. Again, this is a platformer, so it's hardly shocking that the game is something of a collection-fest, but there are thousands of nuts scattered throughout the game. So it's appropriate that you spend the bulk of the game collecting more nuts than you could possibly imagine. The whole hook with Scrat's character is that he's constantly in search of nuts to hoard and bury. Mostly, the game is all about solving various jump puzzles and collecting scads and scads of nuts. Combat in the game is more of a secondary task, since most enemies can't be killed-just knocked out. Like the protagonist in any platformer, Scrat can jump, double jump, and pull off some very basic attacks that mostly involve stomping and swiping with his tail. His twitchy mannerisms and goofy snarls and screeches are pretty cute, and the developers did a great job of giving him moves and abilities that don't seem out of place for a prehistoric rodent. Scrat is an entirely endearing character, and spending the bulk of your time with him is far from a detriment. That turns out for the better in Ice Age 2. So, while there are a few details of the film's plot in the game that might be spoiled if you haven't seen the movie, it's nothing major, and most of the game's events are purely ancillary to the main film storyline. Scrat isn't the main character in the Ice Age 2 film, but rather, his adventures in this game seem like something of a silly side story to the main plot, which is told mainly through scattered narration sequences by Romano's Manfred. Rather, the character you'll spend the bulk of your time with is Scrat, the nervous, twitchy muskrat-looking.thing that fans of the first film will remember as the star of the hilarious introductory sequence. However, none of the primary trio is the star of this game. In fact, actors Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, and Dennis Leary are all on hand as well, and they turn in capable performances for each character (although Romano does sound a bit bored, even more than usual). The three principal characters of both Ice Age flicks, Manfred the mammoth, Sid the sloth, and Diego the sabertooth tiger, are all on hand in the Ice Age 2 game. Help Scrat hoard thousands and thousands of nuts by jumping around a variety of environments in Ice Age 2. Still, there's fun to be had with Ice Age 2, especially if you've got someone in the younger set in your family with an affinity for the characters. Its one Achilles' heel? You can beat the whole thing in about four-hours time, if you know what you're doing. Ice Age 2 is fun practically from beginning to end, including solid gameplay, great production values, and even the celebrity voice cast from the film. But unlike most film-to-game tie-ins, Ice Age 2 is more than just a hacked-together platformer, built exclusively to make more money for the license. Ice Age 2: The Meltdown hits theaters this weekend, and as tends to be the case with many animated films, there's a videogame tie-in to go along with it. So, it's with no measure of shock that a sequel would be in the cards. Telling the story of a trio of celebrity voice-acted, prehistoric creatures on a mission to deliver a lost human baby to his human tribe, the film received both critical and fan acclaim. Ice Age was one of the more-successful attempts to emulate the success of Pixar's seemingly never-ending string of computer-animated family films by another studio (in this case, 20th Century Fox). |
